Twitter is definitely Jaiku's best salesman. A lot of work needs
to be done here, but on the other hand, there's the thrill of a
neighborhood not yet overcrowded.
Dial up and down? Have not needed to use that on facebook yet.
Facebook is really working great for me. Looking forward to the
2008 elections and what facebook will do to it :)
I'm liking Facebook a lot, as well. At least so far. Seems
fairly skewed towards college students, but I'd expect that to
change with time. I'd also like to see more content available via
RSS. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see much there.
I never used Facebook because it was all college, but it's very
usable and that platform thing changes it greatly... I need
groupings and the ability to follow people and their stuff, as well
as topics. So it's not really a Twitter vs. Jaiku vs. Facebook
thing as much as it is a 'this does a lot of things i need in once
place, and cleanly at that' kinda thing.
And yeah I'll be dialing down political conversations. Cuz we
already know how they will sound. xD
facebook is an interesting social platform, and i love open, but
i might rather try to license bebo for in-house use. it has some
interesting features too. i just have to really see which is closet
to my use case.
I love how this conversation has turned out... especially since
my point was more towards the fact that web2.0 is a fickle beast.
What would happen if Facebook started to have the same "growing
pains" that Twitter is going through? Would everyone migrate to
Virb? or heaven forbid Orkut?

During that week long outage, I got 45 consecutive requests one morning from the exodus. Also, people never who used Twitter came in, which was odd

You know who is sneaking up on Jaiku? Facebook. I LOVE the ability to dial someone's signal to noise ratio up or down...

Heh a conversation about Facebook instead of Jaiku on a 'people leaving Twitter for Jaiku' thread.
To further complicate matters, Facebook has let me do what I couldn't attempt on Ning. xD Man, poor Web 2.isco
